Privacy policy

Who we are

The Games Nook (thegamesnook.com) is run by DigiNetwork LLC, a company registered in Wyoming, USA. In this policy, "we" means DigiNetwork LLC. For any question about your data, write to hello@thegamesnook.com.

Your account

If you create an account, we keep your email address, the name you choose and your password. Your password is stored only in a scrambled, one-way form: nobody can read it, not even us.

If you sign in with Google, Google shares your name, email address and Google account number with us, after you agree. We never see your Google password.

If you allow "Analytics" in our cookie banner, we also save where your first visit came from (for example "Google", "Pinterest" or the name of a link) and the first page you opened, and keep it with your account when you sign up, only for our own statistics: we never share it. Without that consent, we save nothing about it, and taking your consent back deletes it.

Signing in with Google

If you choose "Continue with Google", Google tells us your name, your email address and the address of your profile picture, after you agree. We use them only to create your account and sign you in. We do not post anything on your Google account, and we cannot see your Google password, contacts or emails. You can remove our access at any time in your Google account settings.

Your game progress

When you play, we may save your progress, your finished puzzles and your settings. Without an account, they stay in your own browser. With an account, we keep them on our server, so you can continue on another device.

What we record when you are signed in

When you play with an account, we also record how you use the games, to show you your own stats (My stats) and to make the games better. We record: your active time each day (only while the page is on your screen and you moved, touched or typed in the last minute), split into playing and looking around; the puzzles you opened and how often; the games you started, how far they got, when you finished them and the helpers you used; and whether you last used a phone or a computer. We also use what we already keep for your account: finished puzzles, coins and purchases, streak, leagues, achievements, ideas, language, time zone and where your first visit came from. We also record which helpers you use: the helper, the game and its level, how far you were when you asked for it, and whether you then finished the game. When you print with an account, we also keep your print history (the date, the grids and the layout), the "Solved on paper" codes you typed and your booklets, so you can print them again.

Only you (on My stats) and our team (to help you and to improve the games) can see these details. They are never public and never sold. Without an account, none of this is recorded: you stay anonymous.

We keep these detailed records for 13 months. After that, we keep only monthly totals for each player (for example your play time in a month). On My account, "Download my data" gives you a file with everything we keep about you, and "Delete my account" deletes all of it.

Your public name, team, coins and leagues

With an account, we keep your public name (automatic or your own), your home team if you choose one, your coins and what you bought with them, your streak, your badges, your finished puzzles with their times, and your points and places in the weekly leagues. Your time zone comes from your browser, so that "today" is your own day.

Other players see only your public name, your home team, your badges, your places and your best times. Never your real name or your email address.

Ideas, feedback and problem reports

When you share an idea, we keep its text, its type, your votes and our replies. Approved ideas are public with your public name and flag, shown as you wrote them. We never use AI for ideas.

When you answer "Did you enjoy this puzzle?" or report a problem, we keep your answer and your note, with your account or a random number from your browser. We use them only to make our puzzles better.

Emails and how to stop them

We send emails about your account (confirm your email, new password). Other emails come only if you choose them in Email settings: the streak reminder and the weekly league result are off at first; news about your ideas is on at first. We keep a short note of each email we send (what, when, and if it arrived) to keep the service working.

Every one of these emails has a link to stop it in one click, without signing in. You can also change your choices at any time in Email settings on your account.

Server logs

Like every website, our server writes short technical notes for each visit: the IP address, the date and time, the page asked for, the type of browser, and any errors. We use them only to keep the site safe and working, and we keep them for a limited time.

Statistics tools, only with your consent

When we switch them on, we use Google Analytics (by Google) to count visits and see which games people enjoy, and Microsoft Clarity (by Microsoft) to understand how our pages are used, for example where people click.

These tools load only after you allow "Analytics" in our cookie banner ("Accept all", or "Choose"). If you refuse, they never load. You can change your choice at any time with "Cookie settings" at the bottom of every page.

Our own anonymous counts

We count visits and plays ourselves, anonymously: which page or puzzle was opened, how far a game got, the language, phone or computer, and the kind of site a visit came from (for example a search engine). This uses no cookie and keeps no personal data: no name, no account, no IP address. Nobody can be recognised from these numbers.

Some of our links carry a short code, for example ?c=wa-word on a result shared on WhatsApp, or ?c=print-sudoku on a printed page. It tells us which share button, post or page a visit came from, never who you are. We count clicks on our links to other sites (/go/...) the same anonymous way.

Advertising, only with your consent

When we switch on advertising, the ads are shown by Google AdSense. Google AdSense and its cookies load only after you give your consent in our cookie banner.

Why we use your data

We use your account data to give you the service you asked for (your account and your saved games), the server logs to protect the site (our legitimate interest), and the statistics and advertising tools only with your consent. We never sell your personal data.

Who can see your data

Your data is stored by our hosting company, which works for us and may use it only to run the site. Our emails are sent through our email provider. Google and Microsoft receive data only through the tools described above, and only with your consent. These companies may process data in other countries, such as the United States or countries of the European Union, with the protections required by law.

How long we keep it

We keep your account data as long as your account exists. When you delete your account, or ask us to, we delete your data within 30 days, unless the law requires us to keep something longer.

Your rights

You can ask to see the data we have about you (access), to correct it, to delete it, or to object to how we use it. You can also take back your consent at any time.

To ask, write to hello@thegamesnook.com, if possible from the email address of your account. We answer within 30 days. We may ask you to show that the request really comes from you.

The laws we follow

We follow Moroccan law 09-08 on the protection of individuals with regard to the processing of personal data and, for visitors in the European Union, the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). If you think we have not respected your rights, you can complain to your data protection authority, for example the CNDP in Morocco or the authority of your country in the European Union.

Children

The Games Nook is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect data from children under 13. If you think a child under 13 has given us personal data, write to hello@thegamesnook.com and we will delete it.

Changes to this policy

If we change this policy, we update this page and the date at the bottom.
