About this picture
A barn owl sits in a hole in an old tree trunk. Its pale face and heart-shaped white feathers stand out against the dark inside of the hollow. Its large dark eyes look straight at the viewer. Its body has soft grey and cream feathers with small dark spots.
The bark is rough and grey-brown, with patches of green moss and pale lichen. Dry ivy leaves in orange and brown climb up the left side. Below the hole, there is a small pile of twisted twigs and sticks. In the background, the forest is soft and blurred, full of warm orange, gold and brown autumn leaves. The light is low and warm, and it touches the owl's face and the edge of the bark.
How to play
Choose how many pieces you want, then press Play. Drag a piece with your mouse or your finger. When it comes close to its neighbour, the two pieces click together.
Many players start with the edges: "Edges only" shows just the border pieces. "Preview" shows the whole picture, and "Ghost" puts a soft copy of it under the board. Your game saves by itself, so you can stop and come back later. There is no rush: take your time.
Tips
- Start with the owl's pale face, since it is the brightest and clearest area.
- Next, work on the dark hollow around the owl, which helps the pale shapes stand out.
- Save the blurred orange background for last, because its soft shapes are harder to match.
